Goulburn Valley Juniors on the podium at Warnambool
The first race for 2010 saw Goulburn Valley Junior Motorcycle Club riders Jake Sheppard, Luke Lee, Jayden Evans, Morgan O'Loughlin and Nathan Hewlett receiving trophy's over a range of events at the Warnambool 2 Day Open on the weekend. All made the 400km trek to the event, the weather was awesome and the track held up well.

We got to the track on Friday night set up camp, had a good look at the track and signed in. Saturday morning the weather looked good, I was second last practice so the lines on the track were already forming. In the first moto I got an awesome start which set me up well for the race, I was holding onto second place when 1st place rider Todd Jarrett snapped his chain going into the third lap, moving me into 1st place. The second moto I got off the line well but went down in the first corner, I worked hard through the race and got myself back up to 4th place. I finished the day back to first place on points but this also meant that the top 4 riders were only about 1 point apart for the day. Sunday the weather was good again and the track had heaps of water put on overnight, by the time my race was on the track had good lines again and I was looking for a good start. Moto 3 I got off the line well but came out of the corner mid pack, it was a fast race and positions stayed mostly the same for the whole race and I finished 4th place once again. The final moto I knew I needed 2nd place or better to finish 1st overall. I got a good start and pushed up to hold 2nd place, with Jayden Evans pushing hard in 3rd behind me, then out of nowhere 4th place rider Lewis Hare passed both me and Jayden in the final lap pushing me back to 3rd place in the last moto. I ended up with 2nd place overall for the day.

I was happy with my fitness as this was the first event for the year, I will be working hard over the next month or so to prepare for my next event on March 6 & 7 at Ballarat 2 Day Open. The new suspension set up on my bike is working well thanks to Steve at AJ's Motorcycle and working toward my goals for 2010 are looking good.
